Olathe Downtown Public Library

Our team helped create a comfortable, welcoming place for library patrons and staff to gather, read, and work in Olathe’s beautiful new downtown facility.

Goal:
The City of Olathe sought to make their new library a destination; a place where people can gather, relax, focus—and, of course, read. Instead of having multiple, smaller libraries throughout the city, they opted to build two comprehensive locations: the Indian Creek Library and the new Downtown Library. Both locations offer a coffee bar and meeting spaces for staff and patrons alike.

Scope:
Our team provided multiple furnishings to help create an inviting space that fosters community. Soft seating is arranged throughout the space to encourage guests to find a relaxing nook to study or read. A variety of textiles were incorporated into these lounge chairs and poufs to create warmth and enhance the beautiful architecture created by Multi.Studio. Several seating options make the library’s café cozy and functional for visitors. Meeting rooms, complete with lounge and task seating, as well as flip-top tables with casters that can be easily reconfigured, take advantage of the natural light and provide views of the beautiful landscaping and water features outside.

For library staff, we provided workstations with height adjustability for the best ergonomic posture, as well as plenty of storage to house whatever workers might require. A Co-Work Office also gives employees privacy, as well as additional seating to gather and collaborate.
