Goal:
The newly renovated, expanded Sedgwick Hall building houses Rockhurst University’s existing Health Sciences programs, as well as the absorption of Saint Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing. Our client realized very early on the benefits of including us as part of this project due to our more than 25 years of successful projects completed for Saint Luke’s Health System.

As we had previously furnished the existing Saint Luke’s School of Nursing facility, Rockhurst was interested in reusing as much of the existing inventory as possible in their new space. They also wanted to combine these pieces with brand new product. Our team was able to do both.

Scope: After completing an extensive inventory, we confirmed that, by reconfiguring their existing office furniture, we could outfit all the 22 shared office spaces within Sedgwick Hall. In addition, we could utilize all their existing classroom tables and chairs. While the tables and chairs were still in excellent condition, the colors of the seat cushions did not fit the aesthetic of the new facility. We were able to purchase and swap out new cushions in a “Rockhurst blue”—a great benefit of using modular furniture! New furnishings were also incorporated into a variety of collaboration spaces sprinkled throughout all three floors to provide students with places to study and socialize.

To further enhance the space, our flooring division, FDC Contract, provided a wide variety of flooring solutions throughout all areas of the facility to complement the furnishings and provide an additional way to delineate space.

The John A Marshall Co. team worked closely with Rockhurst and the architect to create an attractive grouping of furniture to complement the 100-year-old building’s beautiful architecture and work in harmony with Rockhurst University’s aesthetic.
