Goal: Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma has served Tulsa for 40 years. One in six of Oklahoma’s population is considered food insecure. The Food Bank provides valuable assistance to these vulnerable Oklahomans. Our client completed a renovation of their facilities during the summer of 2023 and expanded their space from 78,000 square feet to 140,000 square feet. The remodel included a new building that increased the capacity of the culinary and volunteer center, added new warehouse space, and provided new partner agency access. The new kitchen and upgraded equipment also allow services to increase from 10,000 to 60,000 meals per week.
John A. Marshall Co. collaborated with the customer’s consultant, Eli Huff, and the Food Bank’s executive leadership team, including Jeff Marlow (CEO) and Kronda Osby (CAO, Executive Vice President), and GH2 Architects to design a beautiful space for staff and volunteers. Herman Miller’s OMNIA Partners program offered a pre-bid contract for the non-profit to utilize, allowing them to purchase high-quality furniture at an affordable price. This kept costs down by avoiding the time and expense of a formal bid process. The renovated facility offers a variety of spaces for staff and volunteers to meet, work, and train. It features executive and private offices, a breakroom, a living room, a volunteer center, a commercial kitchen, a teaching kitchen within a community room, several privacy pods, and a beautiful boardroom.
Scope: The John A. Marshall Co. team provided furnishings, client consultation, design planning, and delivery and installation services. Our partnership with our client and their architect resulted in a professional working environment with beautiful community spaces. Every private office received new furniture. The staff can now access a vibrant breakroom and living room to refresh and recharge. In addition, volunteers are greeted with a warm, open space with comfortable accommodations for when they come to serve their community.
