Second Annual Dignity Drive Helps Local Residents
John A. Marshall Co. employees participated in a virtual drive to supply basic hygiene and cleaning products to Kansas City's Giving the Basics.
John A. Marshall Co. employees in Lenexa and North Kansas City recently participated in our 2nd Annual Dignity Drive, benefitting Giving the Basics.
Due to COVID-19, this year’s drive was virtual, with employees donating items from an Amazon Wish List. This year’s drive brought in a whopping 3,754 personal hygiene items that will be used for Kansas City residents and their families. Last year’s event brought in 3,882 personal care items from these offices, along with 1,471 additional items that were collected by our Wichita office for local efforts there.
In a thank-you note, Community Outreach Manager, Tom Allen, stated that this virtual drive was a huge success and the largest one they’ve held to date.
“God places opportunities in our lives daily to serve the needs of others,” he said. “Thank you for seizing the opportunity to help Giving the Basics provide health, hope, and dignity to those in our community who live in poverty. You and your staff are the best.”
Giving the Basics is a local, charitable organization, helps provide the necessities of life to those who are not covered by government assistance programs. Most of these items are things that others might take for granted, such as laundry soap, shampoo, deodorant, toilet paper, and other personal hygiene products. The products donated immediately impact low-income families with small children, students, veterans, battered women, seniors, former prisoners, and the mentally ill in our community. They help children attend school feeling fresh so they feel comfortable in the learning environment and they ensure adults have the dignity they need so they can gain employment.
We look forward to topping this year’s numbers during a future event!
