Washburn University wanted to create a versatile, cohesive space for their new Welcome Center that would allow students and families to visit, register, study and socialize.

Goal: Washburn University wished to create a welcoming environment for existing and potential students, as well as their families. The goal for the space was to provide a more consolidated space for all things enrollment, from campus tours, to registration, to financial aid. It would also provide spaces for students to meet, study independently or in groups, and gather to socialize between classes.
Scope: The renovated space, completed in 2016, was designed to provide a variety of comfortable environments for students, including an intimate fireplace lounge, more studious areas for coursework, open areas to people watch and socialize, as well as places to play games and collaborate. For the new addition to the existing building, furnishings were provided for the reception/welcome area and all the new administration offices, department offices, and conference rooms.
