Goal: The Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma designed and built a new government building for their Chief and her administrative team. Their goal was to create an elegant space that represented the beauty of the land, the earth, and the sky, while honoring their tribal history. Housing Chief Glenna Wallace, the tribe’s first-ever female in this role, the new building is a beautiful example of the determination and loyalty that the tribe holds in high regard.
Scope: The heart of the building’s design is rooted in the history and culture of the Eastern Shawnee Tribe, which is reflected throughout the design work executed by Studio Design. The facility harmonizes with nature, from its natural stone walls and marble countertops, intricate wood paneling, water features, to its suspended lighting installation in the tower that draws the eyes upward to the Heavens.
The John A. Marshall Co. team provided the Tribe with a multitude of spaces throughout the facility, including private offices, community spaces with luxurious soft seating, an open work area, and dining spaces.
The result is a stunning, nature-focused space that exemplifies the land and honors its people, both inside and out.
