Goal: The mission of the Kansas Health Foundation (KHF) is to improve the health of Kansans. KHF’s goal for the redesign of their space was to create a more open, welcoming, and collaborative environment for their employees and visitors.
Scope: The most significant changes to the space included the replacement of exterior walls with glass, introducing transparency between areas and making the office feel larger and brighter. A striking, modern staircase was also constructed to enhance connectivity between the foundation’s two floors. Additionally, active and amenity-rich spaces were designed to support employee collaboration, productivity, and guest engagement.
Before the Renovation:
The original reception area with guest seating
View of enclosed spaces from the top of the stairwell
A seating and collaborative area
The Boardroom
A corridor with multiple collaborative areas
An open huddle area where teams can brainstorm
Shelden Architecture and McCown Gordon partnered with the John A. Marshall Co. team to transform KHF’s office into a contemporary workspace that reflects the visual essence of Kansas and encourages collaboration. The updated design features colors and textures inspired by the Kansas landscape.
Our team provided a variety of collaborative furniture solutions, including conference rooms, informal meeting areas, focus rooms, an incubator space, as well as dining and lounge areas. We also worked to re-purpose existing workstations, preserving an open layout while supporting sustainability.
